Alaska & Jeremy - The Amethyst Journey (review)

Alaska and Jeremy recently worked together making this amazing sounding eight track album, Amethyst Journey. It's different from Alaska's other music but that's a good thing as you can really hear her true singing voice in this album compared to other songs, and it sounds amazing, accompanied with Jeremy on piano and backing vocals. They both have a lot of talent.

One of the most popular songs on this album that there's a music video to is 'Aliens'. It has a great music video to the song and the lyrics are very catchy, like any Alaska song. The song also has some great backing vocals from Jeremy and they both done amazing in the music video.

A personal favourite track of mine is the strong and emotional song, 'So Far Gone'. You can hear the emotion and passion put into it. It's definetly a song I'd love to hear being performed live. It's one of the songs in the album that I've listened to the most. With the sound of Jeremy on the piano and Alaska on the lead vocals, it has an emotional feeling to it but it's also a song that you can relax to. It's one of these songs that can have different meanings to it for people.

It's great to see Alaska and Jeremy experiment with different sounds and genre's such as rock, acoustic, techno and whatever else they can do with their very wide range of talent, we know that it will always sound amazing. They've both done an amazing job on this album and even went down the personal side of things.

All eight of the tracks on this album is amazing and each track has a different sound, feel, emotion and story to it so it gives the listeners something different to listen to. Even if you don't normally listen to the genre;s of music in this album, you'll still love all of or at least most of these songs.

It's amazing that Alaska and Jeremy have worked together to create their own sound and style with their musical abilities. This album shows their musical abillities in each genre and it's a great mix.

Joseph Waters said "It's a brilliant display of the real vocal talent Alaska has, a demonstration that along with the huge amount of talent she has, there's a very real, emotional and human side to her, and it allows the listener to truly connect with the music"

Shaunna Jade Edwards said "Hieee! Kicking off this album, Amethyst Journey, with 'Son Of a Mother' immediately gave me 80s synth vibes. Although this changes throughout the album to incorporate some more slightly edgy punk, it certainly is a far cry from the 2015 album, Anus. Switching from the recongnisable, deep husky tones, we see it take on a clear playful sound that will have you glued to your devices! The only downside I feel, is we lose a lot of the Alaska Thunderfuck we all know and love. However, it does appear to bring in a genderqueer approach (see the video to Aliens) which is a step forward in the direction for the LGBT community and many other listeners.'

People that know I interview drag queens ask me what drag queen I'd love to interview if I got the chance and I tell them Alaska, so that's a goal for me to hopefully achieve one day, to interview Alaska, or Alaska and Jemery one day.
